If you followed along last week, you might have read my post on this living room and dining room makeover. Initially those two rooms were the only ones on the radar, but as the spaces started feeling good my client decided to rework her office and basement too. Especially since she’s working and spending so much time at home!
There is a reason hallways are not on magazine covers. They are often dark, cramped, and hard to photograph. Our upstairs hallway was no exception but I still wanted to share the transformation.
As my career progresses, I’m learning better ways to communicate with my clients. In the beginning most of my jobs were for friends or family (hi mom!) so it was easier to pull together a space that reflected what I knew about each person. But now that most of my clients are strangers (yet quick friends) I am finding new ways to dig deep into the wants, needs, and preferences of each client. This project was a real collaboration and I think we landed on a beautiful solution.
I asked for you to submit design questions last week and well, one of them sparked an immediate list of ideas in my head, so I thought I would tackle it first. The question was “Tell us how to better arrange our spaces!” Exclamation point included. Great question, so let’s get inside my brain.
